Opti-Clad® Optical Coatings
General Information
These UV curable fiber optic cladding polymers may be formulated to enhance adhesion to
glass/quartz. The UV curable system may also be formulated by
cross-linking for improved thermal stability, (non-fusible).
Typical applications include fiber optic cladding and light pipe
coating, in addition to many other unique applications.
Our S-CLAD, (solution) can also be formulated to enhance adhesion to glass/quartz but deposits as a thermoplastic polymer from a solution in ethyl acetate which is not cross-linked (fusible). Our new process for the manufacture of controlled index cladding materials has drawn considerable interest from around the world.

Keep in mind that our refractive index measurements are conducted at 589 nm with a sample temperature of 25 degrees Centigrade.

Formulations can be supplied in a wide variety of solution viscosities. Polymer physical properties may range from durometer A- elastomer through D- rigid. These cladding compositions may be formulated for adhesion to a variety of substrates while maintaining the desired refractive index with an accuracy of 0.001 + or - 0.0005 units.
